Been a while. Using livejournal really comes in waves. But I've made the assessment that there is a place for this kind of thing. Everyone has tumblr now. It's like the cool new way to blog. But what I've realized is that "blogging" used to be keeping a journal. Thoughts and accounts. Now "blogging" is just re-posting images you've taken from ffffound or embedding youtube video players to show a cat doing something a human would. I don't like that as much, because there's almost nothing personal in it. I guess it's hard to be personal on the internet at all. But that just seems even farther away. You can say that both have their place, and yes, they both do....it's just funny that both fell/fall under the bigger blanket of "blogging" which keeps shifting it's meaning to encompass what's new. It has to.
I feel like all I've been doing is waiting for money. Waiting to be brought on full time, waiting for checks, waiting to get paid for work I've done. I can't wait to not worry about money the way I do now.
Christmas is scaring me big time right now. If I can just my hands on some of that money I'm waiting for, things might be alright.

I had a p strange dream last night.
I had run and was elected for governor of New Jersey. Even in the dream, it was odd that that actually happened as I was an underdog. Then I had to go to banquet to celebrate, and I was having the most difficult time finding something to wear. I was on this weird island and my closet of clothes in two places, a tree, and the freezer of the refrigerator in my basement. (I don't know how that was on the island). There were the huge birds that were kind of like ostriches and I was going to be a hunter of them, but there was no weapons to hunt them, you had to crawl into a ball and they would run at you and then you'd pop up and knock them over. I tried that and it didn't work. Anyway, I had to keep trying to get dressed, which seriously became the most impossible task. Every time I tried an outfit on I didn't like something about it and had to change. Coming to the banquet with us was Ross and Chandler from Friends, so Chandler came up to me and gave me a purple belt and said "Hey, try this...I got it when I went to the Carribean. Smell the quality of that leather." So I tried to put that on but of course put it on all wrong. Everyone was waiting for me and I was making us all late, it was so stressful. At the very end I found the shirt I was looking for and the dream ended. Didn't even get to go to the banquet.
Actually there was some other part that I just remembered that I don't remember where in the story it happened. My mom was talking to some old man who she hadn't seen in a while and he was kind of out of it and he must of asked her how the kids were and she was like "They're good. Matt just graduated highschool. I mean...no...college....he's taking some classes in college now". I remember thinking not only did I graduate college already, why not tell him I just became the governor of NJ?

So I've got some new stuff going on that I'm trying to show as many people as I can.
bcdq.wordpress.com This is the design blog I started. I'm using it kind of as a portfolio, and in doing it's challenging to make more stuff to keep it fresh.
www.myspace.com/woodgoold I uploaded my newest work The Dog And The Moon EP. It's been done for a while, but I've been waiting on artwork. Download it because it comes with stuff from Ian, Mike, And Nick. Plus it would make me happy. The studio time was a birthday present from Kirby and my family, and it's with a full band!
cardeina.wordpress.com Kirby's blog of daily poems.
That's it. Not too bad right?

I know this is already played out, but the fact that Michael Jackson is dead, is honestly making me feel so uncomfortable. I woke up and read Farrah Fawcett, which anytime a big name celebrity dies, there's something kind of weird about it, but to prove my point, it didn't feel much weirder than any other celebrity. Then later in the day I get a text from Anthony saying he heard Michael Jackson died, and when I checked the news on TV it only said he suffered a cardiac arrest. Figuring rumors spread and got out of hand, i texted him him what the news was saying in which he replied that he read it on the internet. So I went on and the only source was TMZ which I do my best to ignore because not only is it pathetic and disgusting, but usually false. But other sources started confirming and before long it was certainly true. And now, for whatever reason, I feel so odd. Like I said, when celebrities die, it's kind of weird, but the real weird thing is, for as long as I've been concious of celebrities dying, and the odd effect it leaves on you, I always used Michael Jackson's eventual death as a gauge. I'd think, 'Man, it's weird....one day all the celebrities I know will be dead...it's going to be real weird when someone like Michael Jackson dies'. I've had this thought literally dozens of times, for literally years. Not that I necessarilly think this is true, but someone could make a valid argument that Michael Jackson was the most famous person alive in his time. He's certainly an icon of enormous magnitude, and something about this whole thing just makes me feel really strange. It's almost unsettling. I feel like when I wake up tomorrow it'll take a second to realize it wasn't part of the dream.
Now, to move on past that somewhat corny string of thoughts, we realized that black berries started growing on the side of our deck a few months ago, and by now there was quite a bit. So today, my dad gathered them and made a jam. A whole process of boiling and mason jars and whatever else, but he found instructions and decided to do that. Too funny, but at the same time, I can't wait to have it. We're also growing grapes, and there's a ton of those too, and apparently he wants to make wine. A bit of a farmer.

More fishing! My dad's in Canada fishing with friends, so while I normally go with him, I got to go alone for the first time, which was nice. Some guy was at the hot spot I like to go first, which bummed me out for a moment, and everything was flooded because of the rain so it was looking poor, but I moved around to the other side of the lake and gave it a go over there. For a while, I wasn't even getting a bite. But I started casting towards the banks and all of the sudden it was like a switch was turned out, I was seeing the fish, and noticing how the water moved and then I got a bite, which hooked a fish and was able to reel that in. I really don't know who else is interested in fishing, even a little, but that feeling of pulling one in is unparalleled. So it was a pretty small bass, but I was still feeling good. This picture makes it look even bigger than it was, but it was really quite small.

But then, like I said, it was if all the fish just came out to play then, because on the second cast after that I hooked another, but as I reeled it in, right as I took it out of the water, it unhooked itself and got away. Feels bad man. But after that, within the next fifteen casts, I hooked another, which was a bigger one.

From there on out I was getting bites on almost every cast, but didn't actually catch any more. It started to rain and I left, but it was a good day.

| Got To Get Away |
[24 May 2009|01:25am] |
Two weeks ago my Dad asked me if I'd like to go fishing with him. The answer to that was certainly yes. I was excited to go because I never really fished before, and it's good old fashioned fun. So we went out a few times, and I was so eager to catch something, but I had yet to feel more than a small bite. He says that fishing, no matter what you catch, you want to go back to get more the next time. And a lot of that was going on. It wasn't however frustrating not catching anything, it's still fun to just be there. But nonetheless, I wanted that first catch. So today, we woke up early and went to Lake Assunpink, a fishing hot spot in Upper Freehold. We fished off the banks, which were all rocks, and without much more than this picture, I finally caught one. A large mouth bass, about 8 inches long. Feels good man!
Ah yeah, cell phone pictures! Also, about an hour after catching this one, I caught another! It was feeling good to break the curse. Who knew I loved fishing? I'm still pretty poor at casting for the most part, but I'll get better I suppose. We also saw a pimp gaggle of snakes, a literal bundle of 3, which were sitting on top of a nest of a few more beneath that. Which I wanted nothing to do with.
Today was my mom's 50th birthday, and I think she had a good time, which makes me glad. We went out for a nice dinner at a place called Moonstruck.
When I got home, I had the urge to learn how to do HDR photos, so I did, kind of. I'm still learning how to make them look good, but I messed around for a while, and this is me doing that: The Toms

Dr. Ferry Cox

Jeff S

Grass To Grass

Hankie

Ringing Rocks

I Used To Look Like This (Sort Of)

I'm already too busy and summer just started. But it's all good.

So we talked about it for a long time, and a few people almost didn't do it. But we crunched down and got pen tool tattoos. The final group was Me, Mike, Kevin, Travis, Nick, and Phill. Kevin almost passed out, and Nick actually did. That was pretty funny and pretty strange and unbelievable, but I'm glad that everyone went through with it and it looks like this:

[29 Apr 2009|04:38pm] |
So I was communicating with Emily via my facebook status (embarassing) about the way the Boston Celtics look. Not as a team, but as individuals. Not in a stats way, but in a "so and so looks like something/someone way", and in trying to find out who Rajon Rondo looks like, i typed into google "rajon rondo looks like" and found out that it was ET i was thinking of. This started my other searches of other players which got pretty funny. So here's the best of that:
"Big Baby Davis looks like"
Just realized big baby Davis looks like Carlton Banks on steroids. Big Baby Davis looks like a oversized, disproportional fat kid that we all picked on in school. Big Baby, Davis looks like the father from Family Matters. Big Baby Davis looks like he has put on about 50 pounds and 6 inches in the past few weeks. Big Baby Davis looks like he has Down's Syndrome. Not making fun of those that do have it.
"Kevin Garnett looks like"
Kevin Garnett looks like a giant cockroach! Kevin Garnett looks like Earthworm Jim. Kevin Garnett looks like a college professor. Kevin Garnett looks like he's 13 again. Kevin Garnett looks like a over grown akon!
"Ray Allen looks like"
Ray Allen looks like a Ninja Turtle Santa Claus. Ray Allen looks like Rondo's big brother fending off the bullie "Hey, hey...take it easy on the little guy, he doesn't know any better." Ray Allen looks like KG's underfed dog. Ray Allen looks like a tool with sleeves on both arms. Ray Allen looks like a shell. Ray Allen looks like a grandpa.
How about the Bulls coach, Vinny Del Negro: "Vinny Del Negro looks like"
Vinny Del Negro looks like Luke Wilson if he had down syndrome. Vinny Del Negro looks like he eats cocoa puffs for lunch. Vinny Del Negro looks like a bowler. Vinny Del Negro looks like someone is holding his kids hostage and if the bulls lose he will lose one of his children.
"Chauncey Billups looks like"
Chauncey Billups looks like a character from fraggle rock. Chauncey Billups looks like a bald P. Diddy. Chauncey Billups looks like a Rick Pitino refugee. Chauncey Billups looks like a horse. Chauncey Billups looks like Cecil Turtle.
And finally: "Joakim Noah looks like"
Joakim Noah Looks Like Sanjaya Malakar of American Idol. Joakim Noah looks like Ted Danson’s and Whoopi Goldberg’s tragic mistake of a child from their short early 90’s fling. Joakim Noah looks like a stressed out single mom! Joakim Noah looks like that retarded dino from meet the robinsons. Joakim Noah looks like the lovechild of Col. Sanders and Bizzy Bone. Joakim Noah looks like a tall kid going into the WNBA draft. Joakim Noah looks like Juwanna Man. Joakim Noah looks like a black Carrot Top. Joakim Noah looks like Diana Ross. Joakim Noah looks like a homeless Louis Farrakhan. Joakim Noah looks like he is the lovechild of Scottie Pippen and a giraffe. Joakim Noah looks like that guy from Gym Class Heroes. Joakim Noah looks like a girl…..an ugly girl. Joakim Noah looks like Moe the Bartender from the Simpsons! Joakim Noah looks like a Greek street performer that does flips, contorts his body and juggles in front of tourists for small amounts of change.

[20 Apr 2009|12:25pm] |
I spent the majority of this past weekend (while doing other things, namely homework) watching sports on tv. I don't know how it happened really, but Saturday morning I went to play racquetball, and when I got back I sat on the couch and the only I wanted to do was watch baseball. So I turned on the TV and search for any game that was on, and I found a Phillies game. (It wound up being a repeat from the night before, but I didn't know, and when I found out I didn't care). But this kind of sparked something, and for the rest of the weekend, I was a sportsfan. I watched a Yankees game, I watched another Phillies game, I was all in. It's hard to get back into something, especially after being out for years and knowing next to no players, but it's also kind of fun to get to know all these new guys. Sunday, I watched a little more, but had to go to a play for my acting class, and when I came back all the games were done, and the only thing on was basketball, so being in Stuart Scott's ESPN mode, I didn't mind watching that either. I don't know how it happened so quickly, but I have an interest to follow now, so that's OK.

So, I've been meaning to make this post for literally months. Every Wednesday evening I'm reminded, but by the time I get home I always forget to do it. But I think about all the time. What am I talking about? Every Wednesday night I got to The Whit, which is the school's newspaper, and sometime, either before, or as I leave, I go to the bathroom. Now the publication suite is on the third floor of the student center, and so the third floor bathroom of the student is the bathroom I'm talking about. But it smells exactly like Nana and Papa's bathroom from their old house in the Poconos. And I like that. I think it's why I make a point to go there weekly. It's also the cleanest bathroom on campus. But the real reason I keep going back is because of that sensory feeling that brings me back to that bathroom. Their house in the Poconos is something I often miss. I wish we could all go back their for Thanksgiving or something. Sometimes I forget that that's not an option, and I'll never go back their ever again. Something about that house, was just very special. It's kind of funny that this bathroom can bring back all this other stuff. But I'm glad it does. Except now I'm going to need to find a new smell as I won't be around that bathroom much more either.

James Victore came to speak to the art department at Rowan today. He gave his little presentation and we got to ask questions, and it was pretty cool. It sounds stupid to say, but it was neat being able to hear him talk about his stuff, and his experiences, and his thought processes. His mentality towards "graphic design" or "art" was cool. And I felt good when I was the only person in the room who had read (is reading, rather) the book he holds nearest to him, Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet. I got to talk to him a little about that, and that book continues to open itself up in new ways. It was pretty awesome to have him right there explaining all this stuf. Here's his video from hillman curtis:
